Introduction to Me!

Hello! My name is Brooklynn and I am currently a Freshman, sophomore, and junior at OU. Beginning the summer before my junior year of high school I began taking concurrent classes at Northern Oklahoma college, in order to get some of my basic courses out of the way. By the time my senior year rolled around I was on track to actually receive my associates degree 20 days before my high school diploma. In March of 2020 my plans, as well as everyone else's, took a turn. The dreaded COVID took away both of the days I had worked so hard for. Although both of my graduations were taken away from me, I still finished the year and received my degree in Biology Pre-Med, I then went on to attended OU. Being that this year was my first year of college out of high school, I began as a "freshman",  starting with 60 credit hours classifying me as a junior, and changing my major to Psychology Pre-Med now puts me as a sophomore. All very confusing, I know!

I have always been the type of person to set high goals for myself that is why my career goals, since 8th grade, have been to go to medical school and become an Anesthesiologist, or even a Psychiatrist, but my biggest goal of all is to just be happy with were life takes me.

Now on to the more fun stuff, My favorites!

  • TV Show (at the moment): The Vampire Diaries
  • Movie: Disney's Hercules
  • Color: Green or Purple
  • Season: Fall
  • Holiday: Thanksgiving
  • Food: Lasagna
My hobbies are very basic, I like hanging out with friends and family,  baking, eating lots of yummy foods, and most importantly, taking naps. You could even go as far as to call me the human form of Garfield.

And to add a little happiness to your day, meet Rosco, my cute puppy.

  1. Hi Brooklynn! I am sorry your graduation was taken away from you. I think it's really cool you are ahead; it is very obvious how ambitious and motivated you are. Props to you for that. The Vampire Diaries is one of my favorite shows. I got so excited seeing that was your favorite at the moment. I also enjoy food so naturally Thanksgiving is also my favorite holiday! Food aside, it's my favorite simply because I get to be surrounded by family. Sadly that wasn't the case a couple months ago, but that's okay, I am grateful for all the good things.

  2. Hey Brooklyn! Wow, your curriculum is really impressive! I can’t imagine how stressful the COVID situation was, but you did it, so congrats! *applause*
I really love TVD too! Even the spinoff ones: Legacy and The Originals.
What’s your favorite good to bake? I developed a liking for baking and cooking in lockdown last year! Taking naps is everything!! And your dog is so cute!

  3. Hi Brooklyn!

I had a 'kind of' similar situation where I came into college with so many credit hours I was a sophomore! I am also pre-med, so I am excited to see where that will leave me. I actually just finished VD and I loved it! I have to ask...Damon or Stefan? I personally like Damon more. Purple is also my favorite color! I am unfortunately VERY bad at baking. The first time I tried making cookies, they turned out to be more like muffins? I am not sure! I have tried since then and I actually made a batch of cookies that was good!

  4. Hi Brooklynn! Wow that is so crazy that you were going to get your first degree before you graduated college. I am glad that you value and see the importance of having joy in your life. I admire that greatly. I love TVD, my friend is watching it for the first time and always live texts us her reactions is so fun. Who is your favorite so far? Well all in all I hope you enjoy this class and have a safe and wonderful semester!

  5. Hi Brooklynn! Wow that's extremely impressive how you were ahead and able to receive your associates by the time you graduated high school!! I took a few courses my senior year of high school but if I could go back I would have definitely started earlier like you did! I was thinking about all the seniors who were suppose to be graduating last year when we went into lockdown and am so sorry both your graduations got taken away from you due to Covid! I am a junior Biochemistry major also on the pre med and wanting to also become either a anesthesiologist or dermatologist as well.

  6. Hello Brooklynn!

You are right! That is all very confusing, but I am proud of all you have accomplished so far. I started college with 21 credits hours. I am a junior and a senior at the moment. I plan on graduating at the end of the year. I am also majoring in psychology and plan to go to nursing school after I receive my Bachelor’s in Psychology. I want to either be a nurse practitioner or an anesthesiologist, as well. I just recently got my first dog. He is a yorkie and his name is Milo.

  7. Hi Brooklynn! It's interesting (and also sad) to hear about how people of different ages have been affected by the pandemic. I am a senior, so a lot of fun things I was hoping to do this year have had to take a backseat to doing what I can to keep myself and others safe. However, I graduated from high school almost 4 years ago, so I was able to have a completely normal graduation, and I am sorry that was taken from you. It's probably extra hard starting college without all the normal social events to help meet lots of new people. I wish you the best with your goals for life and your career!

  8. That is so cool about being an all-in-one student in college right now, Brooklyn! Everything is all topsy-turvy in the pandemic, and eventually you are going to get some great all-in-one graduation to celebrate all your accomplishments: I hope you will get to have a big party when that happens... including some kind of special award for being a freshman / sophomore / junior all at once. Very nice! And your Roscoe is such a cutie: I hope he also approves of naps. I definitely (DEFINITELY) approve of naps, and one of the things I like about teaching online is spontaneous napping as needed. :-)

  9. Hey Brooklynn. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the pandemic, I can't imagine dealing with something like this while transitioning from high school to college.
I can totally relate to the chaos of having advanced standing from transfer/AP credits, though. I've been a "senior" since my third semester at OU. It seems like you have everything fairly well planned out, though, so you're ahead of the curve (in more ways than one.) Also, Rosco is adorable. Is the last name Coltrane perhaps a reference to the saxophonist of the same name?

  10. Hello Brooklynn! Wow you really are ahead, good for you! Sorry to hear that you lost a couple of days that were very important to you. It must be tough dealing with COVID while making the transition like you did. Despite the adversity, you seem to be doing very well! You have set your goals high and with the trajectory you are on you will undoubtedly reach them. Good luck!

  11. Hi Brooklynn!
Wow your story your classification of your student standing is crazy. It's very interesting and cool but I can't imagine how stressful that must have been for you. Like you I am also a biology pre med major and I can 100% understand the stressfulness of it. Also my favorite holiday is fall to, I just love the color, warmth and overall vibes of the season!

  12. Hi Brooklyn! I find it very impressive that you had so much accomplished before you even graduated high school. It sounds like you are very driven and will definitely accomplish all the goals you have set for yourself. I also love the Vampire diaries. Are you team Damon or Stephan? I am 100% team Damon. I love that your favorite holiday is Thanksgiving it is one of my favorites and I feel like it never gets enough credit!

  13. Hey Brooklyn,
You accomplished so much as a high school student! So inspiring! I am so sorry your graduation was taken away from you. I hope OU has been treating you well. I used love The Vampire Diaries when I was 16! My favorite character was and still is Klaus (It was love at first sight haha.) Who's your favorite character?

  14. Hey Brooklynn!

Sounds like your college career has already been kind of a wild ride. Hopefully things are smooth sailing from here on out. Sounds like you’re definitely motivated enough to make it through, even if it is a rough road. I can’t super relate to most of your favorites except naps. Naps are nice. I’ve never watched The Vampire Diaries, late spring/early summer is my favorite season, and I think my favorite holiday would probably be Halloween just because it’s more of a chill out time where you can do whatever.

  15. Hi Brooklynn! First off, I’m really sorry COVID took away both your graduations. You worked so hard to graduate both high school and get an associates degree, and you deserve all the recognition for your work ethic and ambition to succeed. I know you’ll be successful wherever life takes you! I definitely relate to being a human form of Garfield, and quarantine has made my laziness even worse. I also love your puppy, Rosco. So cute!

  16. Hi Brooklynn,

That's crazy awesome that you came into college with 60 hours worth of credit. My high school never offered options like this, but hearing stories like yours makes me pretty jealous that they didn't. I would have been able to get so far ahead! Like you I am a pre-med student, oddly enough like a lot of students in this class as well. It's a grind, but I still love it just like you. Wish you best of luck in your future!

  17. It’s a pleasure to meet you Brooklyn! Congratulations on both your high school diploma and Associates degree. Earning them both is such an amazing accomplishment, especially in the chaos that was last year. I kind of understand your predicament with being freshman, sophomore, and junior all at once. I am a junior, but due to the heavy coursework of my Music Education major, I have the credit hours of a senior and OU keeps sending me graduation invitations and emails about Masters programs. I hope you have a great end to your semester!

  18. Hi Brooklyn! Congratulations on attaining your Associate’s degree! I am glad that you have a positive outlook! Even though both of your graduations were taken away, better days are to come! I also love making and eating lasagna! And who does not love naps! I love naps! Rosco, your puppy, is so adorable! Have an amazing rest of the semester!

  19. Hi Brooklynn! In these tumultuous times, it is just so important to find the silver linings in whatever we can. And there are just so many! I have been able to attend conferences all over the world and have actually been more in contact with my extended family than normal, since we now all use Zoom! It just about finding those little things that keep us going! Good luck with everything!

  20. Hello Brooklynn,

I am a fellow pre-med as well and I understand how hard and daunting this path can be. Always remember yo take care of yourself. I also came in with college credit and it helps so much. Congrats on getting the Associates degree! I can understand how hard and upsetting it is to not be able to have a graduation but I am glad you have such a positive attitude and outlook on things. I wish you the best!

  21. Hi Brooklynn,

I think is so cool that you came to OU with that many credit hours. It is always nice to feel ahead of not only your work, but your own status as well. I feel like it can definitely help with stress, and help you focus on what you actually want to do within your career. As well all know, COVID has been very hard on everyone, and is something that is still putting a damper on many things. I wish you the best of luck on this OU journey!!

  22. Hey Brooklynn!

Your accomplishments so far are very impressive. You seem really hard working and driven which are great qualities to have when going into the medical field. I came into OU with some credit hours but definitely not as much as you lol. Some of your comments about your favorite things and hobbies remind me of my girlfriend. She loves Hercules and Lasagna. You seem really cool. Great job!

  23. Hi Brooklyn!

Look like you are doing well in school. That is great to see that you are very dedicate in what you want to do for your career. I am myself a Pre-med student. One thing that I learned from my own experience and Medical Students is that take your time before it is all gone. You'll be learning for the rest of your life in this career and as long as you love it. you will do just fine. Good luck!
